My Response

I enjoyed this book because I found it very captivating. It shows how many struggles a First Nations person would have gone through in the 1960s and on. I enjoyed the part about the Father bringing hockey to the residential school. Hockey gave Saul hope when he needed it the most. I also liked the parts where Saul faced his past and overcame the hardships he was faced with. I disliked the parts where Saul got picked on just because he was Ojibway. Everyone is a human being, no matter what color their skin is. Racism, though it is still around today, should have no part in the world, and this book highlights problems that nobody should have to face. The book doesn’t sugarcoat any of these issues. I would definitely recommend this book. It is a good tool for teaching people about racism and hardship and dealing with past struggles.
